So, you may have seen in my previous Writing Wednesday posts, and under the "Stories" tab of this blog, that my novella "The Treeman of Roses" is being published though a website called "Fellowship and Fairydust." You may be asking yourself, "T.K., how did you get involved with this website in the first place?" That story begins like so many origin stories, with an unsuspecting young person and a seemingly ordinary day.
It began with contacting my good friend Mirriam Neal for a commission for the story I was working on. Mirriam, gifted artist that she is, more than delivered on the illustration that now adorns my home page. Haven't seen it? Go right now, I'll wait...
Back? Good. OK, so then Mirriam's progress pictures and the finished product garnered much attention, this was the first rumbling of things to come. The next day, or perhaps even the night a girl named Avellina Balestri sent me a friend request. Seeing she was a friend of two other friends, I accepted.
We began corresponding via private message, and I found out she was the editor in chief of a blog called Fellowship of the King, which has merged with the online magazine Ink and Fairydust. Both of these websites were run by my peers, Christian homeschoolers who banded together in order to spread their love for the written word and the stories and authors they loved. Soon, Avellina offered me a position as a web-deputy, sharing archiving and posting duties with other staff members. I accepted, and so Fellowship and Fairydust was born!
It's been a great couple of months since then and the magazine and blog has really taken off. After a frantic ten weeks, "Treeman" was ready to make it's premiere before a worldwide audience. I am so happy to be helping with this endeavor. Please, if you like speculative fiction at all, check us out. You'll be glad you did.
